Sri J. K. KHANNA, I.P.S.

CHIEF VIGILANCE OFFICER

Mr. J. K. Khanna, I.P.S. assumed charge as Chief Vigilance Officer on 3.9.2003. He is a senior IPS Officer of Addl.D.G. Police rank, belonging to Bihar cadre. He joined the I.P.S. in the year 1974. He is of the rank of Addl. Secretary to the Govt. of India. He is equivalent in rank & status to a full fledged Director of the Board. He is M.Sc. (Physics) from I.I.T., Delhi, 1973 batch. He is also LL.B.

During his career in the police, he has held several important posts in Bihar, in the Districts as well as CID, Anti-corruption Bureau & Armed Police and Electricity Board Vigilance. He has headed several districts as S.S.P. (Siwan, Nawada, Chhapra, Rail Distt. Muzaffarpur) and DIG Police (Purnia, Palamau, Armed Police). He was I.G. Prosecution, Govt of Bihar, Patna, before he joined KRIBHCO at Noida. Before joining the Indian Police Service, Mr. Khanna was in the I.F.S. (Indian Forest Service) for about 5 months. Mr. Khanna is a B.Sc. Gold Medalist of Punjab University. He broke all previous records of the University in all the three years of B.Sc. from 1968 to 1971. Singing is his hobby.

Mr.Khanna was awarded President's Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service by the President of India on 15th August, 1997.
