With the blast in population, the demand of all type of resources is increasing exponentially with direct or indirect increase in carbon footprints. Increasing carbon footprint has long lasting effect on climate and causes climate change, which imbalance the ecosystem of our habitat planet. This climate change has been an issue of great concern to all International and National Agencies. Various actions and discussion on different forum has been going on to mitigate climate change.
KRIBHCO Corporate building with the EPI (Energy Performance Index) of 108 kWh/m²/year has been put under 4-star rating under BEE Star Rating Program. KRIBHCO has taken green initiatives at Corporate office, NOIDA. Some of these are as follows:
KRIBHCO has installed 80 KWp On-grid Rooftop Solar PV Power plant at its Corporate building in 2014.This 80 KWp Solar PV power plant consist of 320 modules which have been installed at three different location of its premises.
The total energy generated from this contributes 6% of the KRIBHCO own energy requirement. Total units generated since inception is 5,13,671 units which is equivalent to 565 Tonnes of carbon dioxide if generated through thermal plants.
Countrywide Solid waste generation in urban area was 531.53 Lakh MT/Annum as on Nov, 2017, owing to which the problem of landfills is increasing day by day. Biogas plant generates energy using organic waste which not only reduces the amount of organic waste ending in the landfill but also improves the soil condition by converting it into manure.
KRIBHCO installed biogas plant at its office in 2015. Organic waste generated from canteen is being fed into the Biogas digester. The biogas obtained from this is directly used as cooking gas in canteen without any enrichment. Under normal working condition, the total organic waste that can feed in the digester is 17-18 kg /day and amount of biogas generated is 2.5-3 kg/day, this amount is equivalent to 5 nos. of domestic LPG cylinder per month.
